So yellow!

Commissioned by Genevie from Emil Chronicle Online (Indonesia).

I tried experimenting more with colors, lighting, and scenery... Uh... Even mistakes are all part of the learning process!

I had a lot of fun drawing the hair. The movement and flow of hair is always fun to make.

Another awesome piece so soon, Ilu? You make this Osric proud!

So, let's start with what I'm loving here... the pose, details in the clothing, the hands - especially the one holding the other glove is a really neat the detail - and the movement that the flowing hair and its shadow on the water have, that make it easy for the eyes to naturally set out and wander on the background, especially 'cause there's a lot of interesting stuff to see in this piece. ^^ The falling leaves, the ripples in the water, the movement of the grass under the breeze... it all gives off a sense of naturality and peace.

Now... on to what could use some improvement imho:
The lighting: the lighting itself is done VERY well if you ask me, but I can't help but notice that the source of light seems to have two different directions on the girl and the trees in the backgrounds... by how the shadows fall, it really seems as if it comes directly horizontally from the left side of the picture for the trees, but is diagonal on the foreground.
Second (and last) for some reason the contrast between the hair color and the dark-trees background make that part of the picture look somewhat flat, as if either the figure or the background was just a poster. Or if it's just me, tell me, okay?

One final question though: is there a reason for the brown frame around the picture? Just wondering because a scene like this one that hints at a much larger landscape expanding beyond its borders (or even just the rest of the clothing ^^) would look better without it.
