I imagined writing a long, substantial journal to greet visitors. No longer would my front page have a measly three-line journal! But alas, my creativity dims and I have no idea what the heck I should write about.

Hmm.

Four lines! A record.

In other news, I decided to start studying actual human bodies and drawing them to improve. I've been caught up in this degradation of skill because of relying too much on anime 'style', which just pushes me into this guesswork of "Uhh well I guess a human body SHOULD look like this because in manga it's like this". Faces, especially, are frustrating- real life references just don't match up with what I imagine the anime style should look like. This is an obvious sign of my own lack of skill and style. So it's time to break out the pencils and draw real people!

Haha.

On the bright side, I've been improving my coloring and painting skills. Only for humans, of course. Inanimate objects and scenery are still way out of my reach, but with more experience perhaps that will change. Doing commissions helps break the shell of inexperience, at least.

The day when I can create an evocative, emotional picture is still far, far away at the horizon of my sight.
